The Uritsky court of the Oryol region denied Oleg Navalny, brother of opposition politician Alexei Navalny, parole.
The court rejected Navalny's petition, citing numerous violations: according to reports from the colony, Oleg Navalny refused to comply with the lights out, slept on a bench, left bread crumbs on the table and did not produce a report according to the form.
On his Twitter, Alexei Navalny sarcastically commented on the reports of the colony employees, calling them "a chronicle of torture."
Even before the trial, Navalny's lawyer Kirill Polozov noted that his client had low chances of satisfying the petition, since Navalny had accumulated penalties from the colony staff.
Oleg Navalny has been denied parole before. In June last year, the court rejected the defense's motion, explaining that parole can only be demanded after serving 2/3 of the term.
According to the court decision, Navalny should be released on June 30, 2018.
Alexei and Oleg Navalny were found guilty of embezzling 26 million rubles from the Yves Rocher company and 4 million rubles from the Diversified Processing Company. Alexei Navalny received a suspended sentence, while his brother was sentenced to 3.5 years in a penal colony.
