The organizers of the first Roborace unmanned cars at the Mobile World Congress exhibition in Barcelona introduced the Robocar unmanned racing car.
The car is equipped with four 300-kilowatt electric motors (one on the wheel) and can accelerate to 320 km/h. The length of the electric car is 4.8 meters, a width of 2 meters, and it weighs about 975 kg. The range of the race is provided by the battery of 540 kW.
The machine’s artificial intelligence NVIDIA Drive PX2 is responsible for the control of the machine, the platform of which is capable of processing data from five lidars, two radars, six video cameras and 18 ultrasonic sensors, performing up to 24 trillion operations per second. The French company Michelin became the supplier of tires for drones of the Roborace series, Kommersant reports.
The presentation of the novelty was attended by Roborace CEO Denis Sverdlov and Bolid designer Daniel Simon.
The officially unmanned Roborace races will start as part of the 2016-17 season E. Ten teams will take part in the races, each of which will receive two identical Robocar electric cars, notes N+1 . For debugging software of racing machines, DEVBOT tests are used, which are distinguished by the appearance and the availability of seats for the pilot.
Recall that last week Roborace spent two such Devbot in Buenos Aires, which ended with an accident .
