Visa began the development of a privilege program for bonus cards. This was told to Vedomosti by the director of the Department of New Products of VISA in Russia Anton Krasnenkov.
He did not reveal the details to the publication, but said that the company also works on a new loyalty program, which may be built into the processing of the payment system.
Krasnenkov pointed out the need to compete with the Russian payment system "Mir" and emphasized that Visa "is going to invest in Russia."
According to Krasnenkov, now the company has practically decided on the size of investment and the number of people to implement new ideas.
As one of the bankers told the newspaper, VISA has long wanted to make a loyalty program and distribute it to all banks, but so far everything ends with programs for individual banks. The interlocutor added that the company gives the bank several hundred thousand dollars to promote such a project.
The VISA loyalty program has existed since 2008, and since then has not changed, another interlocutor of the publication was supplemented. Similar programs can increase the circulation of cards by 25-30%, the newspaper notes.
The general director of the national payment cards system (NSPK) Vladimir Komlev told Vedomosti that Mira will have his own unique loyalty program for customers, according to which the card holder on the Mira website will be able to choose a outlet at which he wants to receive a discount.
Mastercard CEO Alexey Malinovsky did not say whether the company's strategy changed after the appearance of the “peace”, but expressed the opinion that the loyalty to the brand was kept not only at the expense of the programs existing from the company, but also thanks to contactless payment and the ability to use the services of world wallets - Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.
In February, Vedomosti also wrote about the start of testing transactions “Mir” using the 3D Secure Security Service, which belong to VISA. According to newspapers, about 30–40 million people will potentially receive a card, and about 250 million cards are issued in Russia in total.
Earlier it became known that the Central Bank instructed the first of March to prepare ATMs for receiving cards.
