Claustrophobic Tatar nationalist Safargali lost consciousness on the way to court

The founder of the Tatar Patriotic Front “Altyn Urda” Danis Safargali, accused of extremism, hooliganism, beatings and causing minor harm to health, lost consciousness on the way to the Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan. This was reported by the publication Idel.Realii.

According to the publication, an ambulance officer interviewed by the court explained that Safargali had “high blood pressure, anxiety and excitement.” His lawyer filed a motion to change the measure of restraint from arrest to house arrest. The court announced a break.

On February 21, the Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan was unable to begin considering Safargali’s case because he could not be brought to court. At the beginning of the hearing, the judge said that the accused was not brought to the trial because he suffers from claustrophobia and it is prohibited to transport him in confined spaces. Then the court decided to postpone the hearing until March.
