On the night of March 1, an explosion occurred at the Sberbank branch in Baltiysk, TASS reports with reference to the main office of the bank branch in the Kaliningrad region. Instead of a safe, the robber took the system unit, reports Klops.ru, citing an informed source.
“He did this, in general, out of his own stupidity. It is clearly evident that the person is completely unfamiliar with the situation and the system. The system unit is metal, and this robber probably thought there was money there. But he quickly realized that he was mistaken and threw the system unit in the neighboring yard. Later, this system specialist, was found by bank employees,” the publication’s interlocutor said .
According to Klops.ru, at night an unknown person entered a 24-hour branch of Sberbank, attached a small box-shaped device to the ATM, then went out and waited for an explosion to occur. When he returned, he pulled out the system unit from the terminal and disappeared with it.
The head office of the regional branch of Sberbank told TASS that no one was injured in the explosion at the bank branch, and no money was lost. Klops.ru was informed by the press service of Sberbank that the bank is helping the investigation in finding the perpetrators.
The bank also clarified that from 10:00 near the branch in house No. 6 on Sadovaya Street there will be a mobile cash transactions point. According to TASS, the explosion in the Sberbank branch occurred around 03:00 local time (about 04:00 Moscow time). Law enforcement agencies have not yet given official comments.
