The investigation into the case of the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Ilmi Umerov, has been completed. This was reported by the lawyer representing his interests, Emil Kurbedinov, who together with him visited the FSB department on March 1, where they were told that the investigation had been completed. At present, Umerov and his lawyer have begun to get acquainted with the materials of the case.
Umerov is accused of calling for the violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation in connection with the live broadcast of the TV channel calling for the return of Crimea to Ukraine.
Another lawyer for Umerov was Nikolai Polozov, but the FSB forcibly transferred him to the status of a witness in the case.
