Extension of arrest for Crimeans accused of membership in Hizb ut-Tahrir remains in force

On February 28, the Supreme Court of Crimea upheld the decision of the Kievsky District Court of Simferopol, which extended the arrest of two Crimean Tatars, Refat Alimov and Arsen Dzhepparov, until April 8. This was announced by Alimov's lawyer Edem Semedlyaev.

Alimov and Dzhepparov are accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization in connection with their alleged membership in Hizb ut-Tahrir.

Currently, 15 Crimean Tatars are in custody, accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization on the basis of possible involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir. Three residents of Sevastopol were sentenced to five years in a penal colony. The case of another Sevastopol resident, who was involved in the same case as them, whom the prosecution considers the organizer of the cell, is being re-examined in court.
