After the scandal in the media, provoked by the mass shooting of stray dogs in Makhachkala, the city authorities opened the first municipal nursery
The opening was attended by representatives of the city hall. They announced their intention to closely cooperate with volunteers and zoo protection organizations to resolve the problem.

The nursery for stray dogs is located in the suburbs of Makhachkala - between the villages of Semender and Lenincent, on the territory of the former state farm with an area of 40 hectares. The first deputy mayor of Makhachkala Abdulmumin Ibrahimov, who was present at the opening, defined his tasks: “We will engage in catching dogs: to sterilize, vaccinate them, dogouts will work with them, and if, according to experts, such dogs will not be dangerous, then they can be released. We will euthanize dogs with rabies. We studied the issue of stray animals in the city and came to the conclusion that in most cases these are pets that have not been needed, and people let them into the city. As soon as the nursery starts work, we will give an announcement that if someone does not want to keep the dog at home anymore, then we can pick it up. ”
Ibrahimov also spoke about the nursery: “He was created in a forced manner. We met with representatives of animal protection organizations “Ecolaif” and “Zooolif”, consulted with them, and this facility was built within a week. Switch, water supply, electricity are brought to the nursery building, and in the near future the laboratory will be able to start working, where the sterilization and vaccination of dogs will be held. ”
However, the word "built" in relation to the nursery is not entirely accurate. Now it is a territory fenced with an iron grid on which there are several dozen aviarys. One of the former state farm buildings should be converted into a veterinary clinic and a laboratory. But this is all in the future. In fact, except for aviaries, so far there is nothing on the spot. There are neither repaired premises, nor equipment, nor medicines, it is not entirely clear who exactly will work in the shelter, and even the number of state is not clear. However, Abdulmumin Ibragimov insists: "The reception of dogs will begin within a week."
“To start solving the problem with homeless animals, opening such a shelter is already very good,” says Olga Vyatkina, head of the ZOOLAIF animal protection organization. For several years, she tried to no avail from the city hall to allocate municipal land for use in order to build a shelter for animals on her donations. “Now the city hall promises us not only close cooperation, but also this land.”
Recall that the mass shooting of dogs throughout the city began after the tragedy on February 19, when a 9-year-old girl died on the outskirts of Makhachkala. As previously stated in the Investigative Committee, "presumably from dog bites." At the same time, the results of forensic examinations will be ready only in March.
Soon in the city, mass and the brutal executions of dogs began, and domestic animals fell under a hot hand. The video of the dead and wounded animals began to appear on social networks, the killers boasted their “exploits”. At the same time, they justified their actions with the “resolution” of the city hall.
After the scandal that erupted in the media, the Makhachkala city hall stated that “municipal services are not involved in these facts. The city hall did not give permission to shoot. " However, the head of the republic, Ramazan Abdulatipov, who did not react to the catastrophic situation in Makhachkala all week all week, unexpectedly expressed a different point of view.
The joint statement of Abdulatipov and the government of the republic of March 1 states:
“The issue of the lack of proper control over stray animals was repeatedly posed by the leadership of the republic before the administration of the city of Makhachkala ... It was planned that the dogs would catch and deliver to the shelter, however, the corresponding services of the City Hall of the capital interpreted this problem in their own way.
As a result of their unprofessional actions, and even the connivance of the Makhachkala veterinary clinics were crowded with wounded animals. ”
At the direction of Abdulatipov, “in connection with the tragic incident,” the Republican Commission, headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Karibov, was created.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office of the Makhachkalas announced that they sent material to the city department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs about the fact of the shooting of dogs - for conducting a pre -investigation verification and deciding on the initiation of a criminal case. Such actions fall under Art. 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Cruel treatment with animals."
