Answering the question of why, in his opinion, Kislyak decided to meet him precisely during the election campaign, Sehns said: "I can’t talk about what was in the thoughts of the Russian ambassador."

Sehns also noted that he does not remember exactly whether it was a question of sanctions against Russia. "The ambassadors are always trying to understand what is happening and promoting its agenda. Ukraine speaks of its affairs, Poland - about its own, as well as Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Japan, Canada, Australia. I met with all these ambassadors," the head of the Ministry of Justice said.

Answering the question of whether he met with any other Russian officials, Sehns said: "I don’t think so. I met with a lot of people."

Donald Trump, in turn, stated that he did not know about the contacts of the head of Sehns with Kislyak. “I was absolutely not in the know,” he said.

Answering the question of whether he believes that Seshns told the truth, answering the questions of senators during the procedure for approving his candidacy, the US president said: "I think, most likely, yes." Trump added that he completely trusts the head of the Ministry of Justice.
