The court arrested ex-deputy Voronenkov in absentia

The judge of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow granted the investigation to the correspondence of the correspondence arrest of the former State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Communist Party Denis Voronenkov, against which the fraud case was instituted. "To choose a measure of restraint in the form of a detention in the form of Voronenkov for a period of two months, calculating the term from the moment of his extradition in the Russian Federation or after the detention in the territory of the Russian Federation," the judge said.

In court, the investigator said that on February 27, Voronenkov was put on the international wanted list. The investigation in the case was extended until April 24.

Voronenkov is charged with part 3 of Article 33, part 1 of Article 170.1 of the Criminal Code (organization of falsification of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities) and part 4 of Article 159 (fraud on an especially large scale). According to the investigation, Voronenkov and his accomplices registered fictitious constituent documents of a certain company and sold their building.

The State Duma deputy of the sixth convocation of Voronenkov was a member of the Communist Party fraction. On February 14, it became known that he accepted Ukrainian citizenship . He left Russia with his wife Maria Maksakova, also a former deputy of the State Duma. “I left because I just don’t want to live in lies and hypocrisy anymore,” said Voronenkov. “You are going to where you can find the case, and Ukraine is the second native country for me.”

Voronenkov also stated that he did not participate in the vote about the annexation of Crimea, his cards were voted by colleagues in the Communists faction. "The decision of the Communist Party faction was to vote for the accession of Crimea, and they voted in place with a card, although I did not give a power of attorney to vote. Then I saw what difficult consequences this vote led to, and today I think this is a gross mistake. My mistake and Russia's mistake. And this mistake needs to be corrected," the former deputy said.

Voronenkov also confirmed the testimony against the former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. “Yes, I testified in the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine in the case of the ex -president of Ukraine Yanukovych, who really betrayed his country, was involved in the massacres of people who escaped to another country and called on the troops of another state to destroy his people. In turn, the Investigative Committee announced Voronenkov on the wanted list on the fraud case on an especially large scale. Prior to this, the department twice tried to bring the ex-deputy to criminal liability, but this did not succeed in his inviolability.

On Thursday, the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, said that Voronenkov "reached the baseness" , having accepted Ukrainian citizenship. "We have issued a decision in relation to this deputy twice. He was held by the organizer on fraudulent schemes for entering entrepreneurs. They pulled it until he left the State Duma and left for Ukraine, because he could be prosecuted and arrested," Bastrykinn said.

According to the chairman of the Investigative Committee, Voronenkov accepted Ukrainian citizenship to evade criminal liability. “Therefore, this is not a whim of Bastrykin and the Investigative Committee, this is a real mechanism for returning the funds of the company, linden, not linden, to our budget,” he added.
