Boris Johnson will visit Moscow

In the coming weeks, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson will pay an official visit to Moscow. This will be the first visit by a British Foreign Secretary to Russia in five years.

According to the British Foreign Office, Boris Johnson, despite disagreements, accepted the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, as the department considers it necessary "to cooperate with Russia if it is in the interests of Great Britain."

The British Foreign Office stressed that Johnson's visit to Moscow should not be interpreted as a "return to normal relations." "The Minister will continue to be firm where our views differ," a ministry spokesman said.

It is assumed that during the visit the settlement in Ukraine and Syria will be discussed - earlier the UK criticized Russia both for its role in the Ukrainian conflict and for supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
