British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson will visit Russia in the next weeks. This was reported on the website of the British Foreign Ministry.

According to the message, Johnson accepted the invitation of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. During the visit, the parties plan to discuss Syria and Ukraine, as well as relations between Russia and the UK, said in the British Foreign Ministry.

At the same time, as noted in the ministry, Johnson’s trip to Russia does not mean a return to previous relations. The minister’s visit will be held in the line of British policy “Cooperate, but beware,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Foreign Minister of Great Britain will continue to “show firmness” in those issues where the points of view of Moscow and London diverge, emphasized in the British department.

The British Embassy in Moscow Interfax reported that Johnson's visit was scheduled for late March. As the source of the agency in the Russian Foreign Ministry said, the trip of the British minister is being worked out.

In October 2016, Johnson urged Russian embassies to be picked up by Moscow in Syria. He also talked about the need to increase pressure on Russia with the help of sanctions. Johnson later said that he would not want to talk about a new Cold War with Russia: although she, according to him, does “many terrible things”, it is not worth comparing it with the USSR.
