Sochi blogger Alexander Valov complained to the ECHR about the detention of the FSB

The editor-in-chief of the BlogSochi website, Alexander Valov, who was detained in 2016 by the FSB, filed a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). Together with Valov, journalists from the American HBO Sport were detained. The journalist claimed a violation of the right to freedom and personal integrity, a fair trial, a violation of freedom of expression and freedom of assembly. It is reported by RBC.

In June 2016, in Sochi, Valov, Saltykovsky, and TV journalists from the United States were detained on the territory of the Sochi village of Veseloye-Psou, where 11 houses from the Olympic heritage fund had been sold the day before. The security forces claimed that the detainees had violated the border regime.

The court arrested Valov for five days for allegedly "collecting an unauthorized mass event in the form of video interviews." The rest of the journalists were fined and released.
