The largest business social network LinkedIn could not agree with Roskomnadzor about cooperation and unlocking in the Russian Federation.

The fact that LinkedIn failed to achieve mutual understanding with Roskomnadzor, which requires the American business social network to localize Russian users in Russia, the vice president of the company Ariel Ecstain told reporters:

“We met with Roskomnadzor in December [last year] to discuss the requirements of the law for localization. Despite our negotiations, we still have not found understanding with Roskomnadzor, which would lead to unlock Linkedin and would allow us to provide the service to users from Russia again. This means that LinkedIn will still be blocked in the Russian Federation. ”

According to him, the company is confident that it acts in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.

“We remain open to a productive dialogue with Roskomnadzor in order to unlock access to the social network,” Eccstain notes. The Russian -speaking version of the site is still functioning, despite the introduction of sites banned in the Russian Federation banned in the Russian Federation.

In December, Roskomnadzor met with the vice president of LinkedIn Pablo Chavez, on which he explained the requirements for localization in the Russian Federation of personal data of Russians. Linkedin has been blocked in Russia since November 2016. This was done by a court decision, which admitted that the social network violated the requirements of the law on the storage of personal data of Russians only in Russia.

LinkedIn blocking was the first large -scale case of applying the law on personal data. No reliable information about the transfer of data from Apple, Google, Microsoft and other major IT companies to Russia has not received, although the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov announced the localization of these Russians by Western companies in the Russian Federation more than once. In addition, Zharov called the blocking of the business social network one of the main achievements of the supervisory authority along with the fight against “death groups”, porn sites and Internet Excreism.
