Materials from the inspection of the action in St. Isaac's Cathedral were transferred to the Investigative Committee

The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted an audit in connection with the request of State Duma deputy Mikhail Romanov, in which he asked to bring to justice the participants in the rally held on January 28 in St. Isaac's Cathedral. According to the deputy, the activists offended the feelings of believers by their actions. This is reported by the publication "Fontanka".

“According to information about a possible violation of the rights of believers during the action, which took place on January 28 in St. Isaac’s Cathedral, an audit was carried out, as a result of which, on the basis of Article 145 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, paragraph 3, part 1, the materials were transferred for a procedural decision to the Investigation Department for the Admiralteisky District Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, ”the answer to the deputy’s request says.

After a meeting with deputies regarding the transfer of St. Isaac's Cathedral to the Russian Orthodox Church on the Field of Mars, on January 28, Dinar Idrisov, together with other activists, held a rally in St. Isaac's Cathedral itself: during the service, young people held up sheets of paper with the inscription "Museum to the city!". Nobody was arrested that day.

The rally was condemned in the parliament of St. Petersburg. Speaking to the deputies, the speaker of the Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Makarov said that the rally on the Field of Mars "was attended by people, among whom were LGBT activists and pacifists, and the figures who then came to the temple offended the feelings of millions of believers who supported the transfer of the temple to the Russian Orthodox Church." Petersburg parliamentarians appealed to law enforcement agencies with a request to bring the protesters to justice. State Duma deputy Mikhail Romanov sent the same request. According to Romanov, the actions of Dinar Idrisov and other picket participants "can be compared with the actions of the Pussy Riot group and they are aimed at inciting religious intolerance."

Deputy Mikhail Romanov told Fontanka on March 7 that he was told orally in the ministry that dozens of eyewitnesses of the action had been interviewed in connection with his request, including the dean of St. Isaac's Cathedral Alexei Isaev, who said that he had been prevented from conducting the service.
