
The Sardar Daud Khan Hospital in Kabul was attacked by at least five terrorists, RIA Novosti reports . The attack occurred around 9:30 local time. Al Jazeera correspondents report from the scene that at least 17 people were killed, the number of wounded is about 70 people. The Tolonews Afghan TV channel calls the figure several times smaller - 15 wounded. Most of the victims provide medical care in the hospital itself.
One of the militants led to the suicide bias at the entrance to the clinic, four more, dressed in a medical uniform, opened the shooting inside the clinic and took hostages. Later, several powerful explosions were heard near the scene - according to some reports, in one case a bomb worked in a parked car. The hospital is located in the area where the US Embassy is located in Afghanistan, diplomatic missions of other states, as well as a number of government institutions.
During the operation of power structures by 12 o’clock, two terrorists were killed, two more remained hostages on the 4th floor of the seven-story hospital. All entrances to the hospital are blocked by power structures. The security forces said that it was in no hurry with hard actions to minimize the losses of the civilian population. By about 14.30, the authorities announced the death of all terrorists and the completion of the operation.
The Taliban movement at the first hour categorically stated that it was not involved in the crime. The Islamic State group took responsibility for the terrorist attack.
In August last year, according to a similar scenario, an attack by militants on an American university in Kabul unfolded. At first, a powerful explosion thundered near the building, and then shooting began inside and outside. The operation to free the building lasted about 10 hours. Thirteen people, including seven students, died as a result of an attack.
In September 2016, Kabul occurred clashes between security forces and armed people who attacked the office of the Care International International Charitable organization. Four explosions occurred in the city per day. At least 25 people were killed, 97 were injured. Three terrorists were killed. Responsibility for explosions and attacks was taken by the Taliban group.
About 80 people were killed and almost 250 were injured in two self -breaks in Kabul at a demonstration in July 2016. Then the responsibility for the attack was taken by IG. The cause of the attack was named the Khazareans belonging to Shiites. Two thousand people took part in the demonstration. They demanded that the government conduct a power transmission line from Turkmenistan in provinces inhabited by the Khazareans.
