The Museum of the East accepted 57 packs with the paintings of Svyatoslav and Nikolai Roerichs, who were seized on March 7 from the International Center for the Roerichs (ICR) in Moscow as part of the investigation of the Master Bank criminal case, TASS reports with reference to the Director of the East Museum Alexander Sedov.

“The paintings of the Roerichs are in the Museum of the East as material evidence. How many works, I can’t say - there are 57 packages, we cannot unpack them, since they are sealed with the seal of the Investigative Committee. All further actions depend on the investigative authorities, we act as a warehouse,” said Sedov.

We are talking about the seizure of those paintings that entered the International Center for the Roerichs from Boris Bulochnik-the wanted ex-owner of the Master Bank. According to investigators, from 1990 to 2010, he purchased paintings by the Roerichs with illegally received money and transferred it to the ICR.

On March 7, law enforcement agencies conducted searches in the center of the Roerichs as part of the fraud in the case of fraud, excited against the bakery. What will be the fate of the seized paintings is unknown.
