The Investigative Committee will check reports of the beating of a journalist near Moscow by a deputy

The Investigative Committee will check reports about the beating of blogger and editor-in-chief of Alternative Newspaper Andrei Trofimov by deputy of the Council of Deputies of Sergiev Posad Vladimir Koroshchenko. This was reported by the Moscow agency with reference to the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow region.

Reports of Trofimov’s beating appeared on March 9: then the journalist tried to ask the deputy about the sale of land plots near the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The journalist said that the deputy tried to take his camera away, damaged the tripod and scratched his face.

Trofimov recorded the injuries at the first aid station and contacted the police. Deputy Koroshchenko claims that there was no conflict: he allegedly followed to his workplace, and Trofimov “poked him in the face with a tripod with a camera.” The deputy filed a counter-application.
