According to the results of 2016, Apple accounted for 79.2% of the total profit received by manufacturers in the global smartphone market, writes The Korea Held newspaper with reference to the results of the Strategy Analytics study.
According to analysts, the total profit of all smartphone manufacturers last year amounted to $ 53.7 billion. At the same time, Apple's profit amounted to $ 44.9 billion. As noted in Strategy Analytics, this success indicates the ability of the company from Cupertino to minimize production costs and at the same time selling devices at a high price.
The second place in this indicator was taken by the South Korean company Samsung, which accounted for 14.6% ($ 8.3 billion) arrived in the world market. The Chinese Huawei is closed with a result of 1.6% ($ 929 million). Next are the Chinese companies Oppo and Vivo with profit indicators of 1.5% and 1.3%, respectively.
Recall that in early February, Apple announced the record revenue for the 1st quarter of 2017 of the financial year (coincides with the IV quarter of 2016). According to the report, the quarterly revenue of the company amounted to $ 78.4 billion, while the previous record for this indicator, set a year ago, amounted to $ 75.9 billion. According to the head of the company Tim Kuk, Apple also set the revenue records from sales of iPhone smartphones, MAC computers, Watch hours and various services.
In addition, it is worth noting that the previously published data from Strategy Analytics for the IV quarter of last year indicate that Apple entered the market leaders in terms of smartphone supply, slightly ahead of Samsung. The main reason for this was the review of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.
