Ildara Dadina was released from the police

Activist Ildar Dadin, who previously detained during a picket near the FSIN building, was released from the police. This was reported by Republic by his wife Anastasia Zotova.

Dadin was detained after he refused to show documents to police officers. During a single picket, he stood with a poster, on which there were requirements of the resignation of the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Karelia, his deputy and the head of the IK-7 colony, in which Dadin was serving his sentence. Wife Dadina Anastasia Zotova brought an activist’s passport to the police department.

The activist was released on February 26 after the Supreme Court canceled his sentence. Earlier, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation decided to change the article on repeated violations at rallies (Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), according to which Dadin was convicted. The court recognized the Constitution to be contrary to criminal liability only on the basis of the repeated committing of an offense.

Ildar Dadin became the first and only convict under the article on repeated violations at rallies. He received three years in colony in 2015, but later his term was reduced to two and a half years. The activist complained about torture in the IK-7 colony in November 2016, but according to the results of the audit in the UK and the FSIN, they said that the activist was not subjected to beatings.
