Information about the death of Makovich Interfax was confirmed by the head of the News Front news agency Konstantin Knyrik. "A deputy of the first convocation of the DPR parliament, a person who read the declaration of state sovereignty of the DPR, Vladimir Makovich, unfortunately, died today as a result of an illness," Knyrik said.

According to him, Makovich had heart problems. “Previously, the cause of death is a heart attack,” Knyrik added.

Vladimir Makovich headed the "Supreme Council" of the DPR after the resignation of Denis Pushilin. In July 2014 , Makovich, at that time, “Deputy Prime Minister” of the DPR, was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the death of Channel One Operator Anatoly Klyan.
