The largest e-book seller in the Russian Federation, liters, is preparing to introduce a new book format to the market - fb3. Kommersant writes about this, citing a company representative.
This year, investments in the project could reach up to 50 million rubles. The company says fb3 will meet “increased market needs for quality e-books.” The new format will make it possible to publish books with complex layouts, a large number of tables, lists and illustrations.
Also, LitRes Innovations LLC (a subsidiary of LitRes, which develops the format) will create an infrastructure that will allow publishers to integrate the release of an electronic version into the production process of a printed book, while maintaining the original layout regardless of the reading device used. Thus, the developers plan to reduce the time it takes for electronic versions of books to appear on sale.
