The Moscow City Court has reduced the amount of compensation for unjustified criminal prosecution for four base jumpers acquitted in the case of repainting the star of a high-rise building on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment in the colors of the national flag of Ukraine. reports the press service On August 20, 2014, base jumpers Anna Lepeshkina, Alexander Pogrebov, Alexey Shirokozhukhov and Evgenia Korotkova made a jump from a high-rise building on Kotelnicheskaya embankment. On the same day, it became known that the Ukrainian flag was hung on the high-rise building, and the star was painted in the colors of the flag. The investigation alleged that the BASE jumpers drew attention to the act by jumping from the building. Ukrainian roofer Grigory Ushivets took upon himself the task of painting the star and hanging the flag. Russian roofer Vladimir Podrezov, who, in his own words, climbed the building together with Ushivets, but did not reach the star, was accused of complicity.
The Tagansky Court of Moscow acquitted four base jumpers who jumped from the roof of a building, but sentenced Podrezov to 2 years and 10 months in prison. Later, the term for the roofer was replaced by restriction of freedom.
In July 2016, the court paid compensation in the amount of 90 thousand rubles to each acquitted person, but later the amount of compensation was significantly higher. Lepeshkina was to be paid 667 thousand rubles, Korotkova - 411 thousand, Pogrebov - 632 thousand, and Shirokozhukhov - 454 thousand.
decided to increase Now the court, having partially satisfied the request of the prosecutor's office, reduced the amounts for three of the four base jumpers. Lepeshkina will be paid 622 thousand rubles, Korotkova - 410 thousand, Shirokozhukhov - 450 thousand. The amount of compensation to Alexander Pogrebov was left unchanged.
