Entry into the center of Sochi may require a fee

The bill on restricting entry into cities, the so-called “paid entry” law, was slightly adjusted before the second reading in the State Duma.

As the head of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Construction, Evgeny Moskvichev, said, entrance fees can only be paid to historical centers or other historical places of cities, reports Max Portal with reference to Interfax.

To introduce such a restriction, it will be necessary for the legislative assembly of the city or subject of the federation to adopt “the provision that this place is holy, and movement there will be limited.”

The bill is expected to be adopted during the spring session of parliament. It was approved in the first reading on December 16 last year.

The first reading contains norms that could provide the authorities with the opportunity to introduce unalternative paid entry into certain areas of cities. The project provides for the possibility of establishing free tariffs for traffic on sections of highways or banning the movement of vehicles on them.
