The Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine at an emergency meeting, convened at the initiative of the President of the country Petro Poroshenko, completely suspended transport communication with the territories of Donbass and Priazovya controlled by Russia. Such information is reported on the NSDC website.
We are talking about any transportation, and not just about railway. The exception was made only for humanitarian goods imported by both Ukrainian and international organizations.
At the same time, the SNBO instructed the National Bank of Ukraine and the SBU to analyze the activities of credit institutions of the country, in the capital of which there is a share of Russian state banks, and make proposals, in particular regarding the imposition of sanctions against these institutions within a day.
With the proposal to suspend transport communication with the occupied territories to the members of the National Security and Defense Council was addressed by Poroshenko. The performance is published on the presidential website. The head of state proposed to introduce the suspension until "until the invaders return the stolen Ukrainian proceedings back to the jurisdiction of Ukraine."
Poroshenko motivated his proposal precisely the seizure of Ukrainian enterprises, about which the militants of the DPR and the LPR announced at the beginning of the month . At the same time, he sharply criticized the railway blockade of the occupied territories, which was begun by activists at the end of January. The president accused her organizers of "irresponsible anti -state behavior", which created "additional serious threats of national security."
“The negative effect of the blockade for the whole of Ukraine is absolutely obvious, while it is not capable of radically influencing the invaders,” the head of state said. “Through hundreds of kilometers not controlled by Ukraine, they can easily get everything they need from the Russian Federation. And also sell everything they need there.”
“For a month and a half, the blockers did not bring closer, but delayed the prospect of the return of these areas,” Poroshenko continued. “They did not intensify, but weakened the influence of Ukraine on the other side of the contact line ... They didn’t even return one prisoner - and that’s why they started the action, wasn’t they so worsened their situation.”
The actions of the blockade will "fly to Ukraine into a penny," the president noted. “And these accounts,” he assured, “we will put up not only by the self -proclaimed“ Republicans ”, but also“ Self -Help ”,“ Fatherland ”and other instigators and propagandists of the blockade.”
The “Self -help”, according to the list of which was elected to the Verkhovna Rada, one of the initiators of the blockade - the former commander of the Donbass battalion Semen Semenchenko, ”Poroshenko made a separate attack. "Is it good to distract attention from the failures of his leader (Lviv Mayor Andrei Sadovoy. - Ed.), Which for two and a half mayor of the deadline failed to solve the most acute issue of the housing and communal services and literally bombarded the most beautiful European city of Ukraine?" - remarked the president.
The blockade of railway communication with the DPR and LPR began in late January . Initially, its participants sought the liberation of the military and activists held by the militants in captivity. Then the requirements were put forward to the government of Ukraine. The headquarters insists on adopting the law "On the occupied territories", terminating the supply of coal from the DPR and the LPR and the complete rupture of any economic ties with them.
On March 4, activists announced the beginning of the trade blockade of Russia . At the Konotop station in the Sumy region, one of the main railways connecting Ukraine with a neighboring country was blocked. The participants of the action did not interfere with the movement of passenger trains.
On Monday, the situation worsened. The blockade headquarters said that the SBU captured the Redut of activists at the Krivoy Torets station in the Donetsk region. The special services, as well as the police, announced the detention of 46 people. After that, in Kiev and a number of cities of Western Ukraine , shares in the protest of supporters of the blockade were held with a demand to release the detainees. In Vinnitsa, the demonstrators came to the regional administration and demanded that the region’s leadership officially support the blockade. On Tuesday night, the detainees were freed.
In addition, in March, attacks on offices and ATMs of Russian banks began. The reason was that Sberbank of Russia began to serve persons with passports of the DPR and LPR. On March 13, activists of the National Corps party, headed by the founder of the Azov Regiment, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Andrei Biletsky, walked the central office of the subsidiary of Sberbank in Kiev. Biletsky assured that activists will not allow Sberbank to work in the country and will block their branches throughout Ukraine for this.
