Chatterbox social startup is preparing from migrants of language tutors

ChatterBox is a social business in which London activists are preparing from refugees of tutors so that they can teach their language and thus earn a living.

Not only poor people are forced to leave their countries, among them there are teachers, researchers, as well as professional workers. The founder of the ChatterBox project Mursal Hedayat , on the experience of her parents, realized the problems of refugees.

More than 20 years ago, her mother, an engineer by education, was forced to come from Afghanistan to England. It was not easy to find a job in a new place, despite her education and work experience. And to this day, refugees, as a rule, are excluded from the local labor market, which leads to social isolation.

This problem is trying, among other things, to solve the ChatterBox project. With its help, refugees can get training, and followed by the opportunity to earn using the knowledge of the native language, their culture. In fact, the project simply helps motivated and educated refugees reveal their potential.

The project has already begun joint work with universities in England , in particular, in 2017, in The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), courses are held in which Kurdish, Suakhili, Farsi and Arabic can be studied.

The project plans to launch individual classes. Another promising direction is cooperation with the corporate sector. Chatterbox knows well what languages ​​their wards speak, as well as what specialties and professional skills and knowledge they have.

Thus, the project can reduce the refugee with the company that can most of all need a person with specific competencies (for example, a construction company that works outside England or wants to enter a new market).

Companies, in turn, have a motivation to cooperate with Chatterbox: according to the study, in 2013, the economy of England did not receive 48 billion pounds due to the fact that some of the trade transactions and operations were not carried out, including due to lack of knowledge of foreign languages.
