On March 16, 2014, a "all-Crimean referendum" took place, following which Crimea was included in Russia. According to official data, 96.77 percent of those who voted in favor of joining Russia as a federation subject in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, with a turnout of 83.1%. In Sevastopol, 95.6% of the referendum participants voted "for" with a turnout of 89.5%.

The results of the "referendum", which was held in the absence of authoritative international observers, under the conditions of Russian military occupation and contrary to the constitution of Ukraine, were not recognized by Ukraine and the vast majority of the world's states.
