In Yekaterinburg, a police officer was fired after an inexplicable purchase of an apartment

In Yekaterinburg, an employee of the migration police department was fired and fined, who bought herself an apartment, but could not explain where she got the money for it. The cost of the purchase exceeded her total income for three years, according to the website of the Sverdlovsk prosecutor’s office.

The suspicious purchase was discovered after the prosecutor's office checked compliance with anti-corruption legislation.

The audit showed that in 2014, a police officer purchased an apartment worth 1.7 million rubles. This amount is more than three times her official three-year total income.

When a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system was asked to explain the origin of the money for the purchase, the employee provided a certificate from the bank stating that she had taken out a loan in the amount of 630 thousand rubles. The rest of the amount, she said, was given by her parents.

However, an audit showed that her retired parents do not work anywhere and could not give their daughter more than a million rubles. Then, in accordance with Article 17 of the Federal Law “On control over the compliance of expenses of persons holding government positions and other persons with their income,” the prosecutor filed a lawsuit to recover unconfirmed income in favor of the state.

At first, the district court did not satisfy the request of the prosecutor's office, and employees of the supervisory agency had to challenge the decision in a higher authority.

The regional court listened to the prosecutors' arguments and ordered to recover 1 million 150 thousand rubles from the police officer. In addition, the girl was fired from law enforcement due to loss of trust.
