RDIF and partners are interested in a minority stake in GEFCO

The Russian Direct Investment Fund and its partners - sovereign funds of a number of countries are exploring the possibility of acquiring a minority stake in the French logistics operator GEFCO, owned by Russian Railways OJSC.

“We are interested in this, but we are still just studying it all. We are talking about a minority stake,” RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev told reporters on the sidelines of the RSPP congress. To a clarifying question about what the size of the package could be, for example, 5%, Dmitriev answered: “More than 5%.”

“The interest of RDIF is that we are looking at significant, rapidly growing companies. GEFCO is such a company, present in 70 countries. Of course, our partners are also interested in developing this logistics business in various countries. Therefore, we are now studying this opportunity in detail together with the world’s leading sovereign funds,” he noted.

At the end of February, the head of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov, said that Russian Railways was exploring the possibility of selling part of its stake in GEFCO, where the company currently owns 75%.
