Execution through hanging

A graduate student of the Faculty of History of Moscow State University turned to the Committee on the Prevention of Torture, Mediazon reports . On March 18, he was interrogated and beaten by the FSB officers for waving the Ukrainian flag from the dormitory window on the Sparrow Hills during a rally on the anniversary of the annexation of Crimea.

According to the graduate student himself, he had no intention of arranging a political action. “The goal was to draw attention to dormitories, there are a lot of rats, cockroaches and bugs in the dormitories,” he told Novaya Gazeta. “We need to spend money on the University’s improvement. We decided to hang the flag of Ukraine during the festival in order to get a public discourse, the action did not be political in nature.”

The graduate faculty made the flag of Ukraine from two pieces of fabric and began to wave it out of the window of his room during the MSU of the rally passing near the main building. Then he moved to the stairwell, from where the flag was better visible with the participants of the rally. There he was detained by an employee of the hostel security service. Later, a police department at Moscow State University Major Belovitsky and three people in civilian clothes, who were submitted by the FSB officers, approached. With the use of force, they examined the graduate student’s room, took the camera, telephone and laptop and took it to the OP of Moscow State University.

“The search in the room was arranged without a warrant, and in the department I was beaten with fists, legs and sticks in order to find out who gave me money, in which organization I got into it, although I’m not anywhere. It lasted 1.5-2 hours. They forced me to sign an agreement on cooperation,” said the graduate student.

After two hours of interrogation, the graduate student was forced to write a receipt under dictation that he “agreed to work as an informant under the auspices of the FSB and the Center“ U ”under the pseudonym A graduate student. The interrogation gave him the equipment and left. After that, the police forced him to write in the protocol that he waved the flag and obscenely expressed him. Having issued him a receipt for paying a fine for petty hooliganism.

On Sunday, the graduate student recorded beatings in the emergency room. According to him, those who interrogated were similar to the FSB officer Andrei Fedorov and an employee of the Center for "E" Alexei Obnoye.

According to the police, 150 thousand people took part in the rally on the anniversary of the annexation of Crimea. Shares were held in other cities of Russia. It was reported about the troops described on top of such events .

On March 17, at the University metro station, several dozen students, graduate students and graduates of Moscow State University participated in the picket against the Vorobyevs of the rally-concert on the anniversary of the annexation of Crimea. Participants in the coordinated action stood with the university -ours posters, “political festivals have no place in the temple of science”, “MSU is we”, “university is not decoration”, “Moscow State University NOT ATC”. Students opposed the use of the brand of Moscow State University for political purposes. In addition, the participants in the action demanded to limit the holding of mass events in the immediate vicinity of the main building of the Moscow State University, to restore flower beds closed to the rally with wooden shields, and to return the territory transferred to the main building under the control of Moscow State University.

Participants in the action said that the holding of mass events near the main building delivers unjustified inconvenience to students living there. They are interfering with noise from round-the-clock installation and disassembly of structures, loud music during rehearsals, as well as the inability to get home during the events themselves due to blocked entrances.
