Earlier on March 21, Leshchenko said that in 2009, former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych transferred $ 750 thousand to Manafort through an offshore company registered in Belize and opened an account in Bishkek.
According to Leshchenko, the fee was listed under a contract, within the framework of which Manafort allegedly delivered 501 computers for offshore. “According to my information, this was one of the schemes that the Party of Regions used to launder funds. They had accounts, including in Kyrgyzstan, for which they received money and made illegal payments, ”the deputy said.
CNN, citing sources in August 2016, reported that the FBI, together with the US Ministry of Justice, is investigating the connections of American companies with Yanukovych. Among the companies whose work was going to check the FBI and the Ministry of Justice, Manafort was also mentioned.
Manafort resigned from the post of head of Trump's headquarters in August 2016, without specifying the reason for leaving. Shortly before that, it became known that Manafort illegally received $ 12.7 million from Yanukovych from 2007 to 2012.
