The man who attacked passers-by and police in London on March 22 was named Khalid Masood. This was reported by the London Metropolitan Police Service.
Massoud was 52 years old and a native of Kent. According to reports, he recently lived in the West Midlands (Birmingham is located there, where several people were detained after the terrorist attack).
Khalid Masoud was convicted on numerous occasions, including for grievous bodily harm and possession of a weapon. He received his last conviction in 2003.
The police stressed that he was not under investigation at the time of the attack; law enforcement agencies were not aware of his intention to commit a terrorist attack.
