The Moscow City Hall warned about the illegality of the anti-corruption march on March 26

Vladimir Chernikov, head of Moscow's regional security department, said that the organizers of the rally planned for March 26 in central Moscow had been issued a prosecutor's warning about violating the law on rallies.

We are talking about a procession against corruption along Tverskaya Street, which was planned for March 26 by opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

According to Chernikov, the mayor's office did not approve the rally, because "the organizers sent a total of five applications" for simultaneous rallies in "territories of the city that are far from each other." The mayor's office decided that the organizers would not be able to be in different places at the same time and "fulfill their obligations to ensure order."

Chernikov stated, in particular, that one of the applications was submitted on 20 March; in response to it, on March 22, the mayor's office offered a choice of two places - a street in Maryino and a "hyde park" in Sokolniki, but the organizers refused.

Navalny's press secretary, Kira Yarmysh, told Meduza that two documents had been submitted to the mayor's office: a notice of the rally and a request for approval or alternative venues. The second application was submitted on March 20. Yarmysh stressed that it is not a "new notification" about the action.

• Navalny reported on submitting only one application for holding a procession on Tverskaya Street - this happened on March 14. On March 18, the Moscow Mayor's Office announced the impossibility of holding the action without offering, contrary to the requirements of the law, alternative options; after that, Navalny said that he considers the action agreed and intends to hold it.
• Supporters of Alexei Navalny planned to hold protests against corruption on March 26 in several dozen Russian cities. The reason for the events was the investigation of the Anti-Corruption Foundation about real estate and yachts used by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
• In many cities, actions under various pretexts were not agreed upon.
