“Fontanka”: Poklonskaya asked the police to check the director of “Matilda” for extremism
State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya sent a statement to the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for combating extremism with a request to check the statements of the director of the film "Matilda" Alexei Uchitel and his lawyer, former senator Konstantin Dobrynin. It is reported by "Fontanka" with reference to a source in law enforcement.
According to the publication, we are talking about statements in which Uchitel and Dobrynin associate Poklonskaya with activists of "pseudo-religious organizations", whom she allegedly "provoked into extremist actions." We are talking about people who sent letters to cinemas demanding to refuse the rental of "Matilda" and threats, the publication clarifies.
According to Fontanka, in the statement, Poklonskaya refers to the provision of the law "On countering extremist activity", according to which the "knowingly false" accusation of a statesman of extremism is in itself extremism.
According to Fontanka, law enforcement agencies, as well as the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, are conducting checks on at least three deputy requests from a former Crimean law enforcement officer, and now a State Duma deputy.
- Natalya Poklonskaya several times appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office with a request to check the film by Alexei Uchitel "Matilda", which has not yet been released, which deals with the novel of Emperor Nicholas II and the ballerina Matilda Kshesinskaya (the premiere is scheduled for autumn 2017).
- According to her, the reason for the appeal was the complaints of citizens who are offended by the screen version of a love story with the participation of the canonized king. The first check, the subject of which was the trailer of the film, did not reveal any violations.
- In January 2017, it became known that activists who call themselves members of the Christian State - Holy Rus' movement sent letters to cinemas demanding that they refuse to rent Matilda, threatening that "cinemas would start burning."
- After that, the Teacher filed a statement with the Prosecutor General's Office with a request to protect the team of the film "Matilda" from slander by State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya, as well as from "threats and illegal actions of extremist persons."
- Poklonskaya said , in turn, that she asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs Center for Combating Extremism (Center "E") to check the actions of the activists. She stressed that she does not consider their union an "Orthodox movement."
