Human rights activists reported the detention of 17 suspects in the preparation of riots in Belarus

Law enforcement agencies of Belarus detained 17 people suspected of preparing the riots, the local human rights center "Vesna" reports. According to him, all the detentions occurred in the period from March 21 to March 22.

The organization’s website provides a list with the names and surnames of the detainees, as well as indicating the places of their content. Among other things, the leader of the unregistered Opposition Belarusian movement "Young Front" Dmitry Dashkevich and Viktor Danilov, who is called the representative of the "White Legion" - an unregistered sports and patriotic Belarusian organization, was mentioned in the list, Interfax reports.

All detainees were charged with preparing the riots - part 3 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The punishment under this article provides for an arrest for up to six months or imprisonment for up to three years.

Human rights activists note that the list of detainees is not final - it is constantly updated and supplemented.

The human rights center "Vesna" is a non -governmental human rights organization created in April 1996 during mass protests of a democratic opposition in Belarus, which, after the arrests of the demonstration participants, was engaged in the help of the arrested and their families.

In 2003, for participation in observation during the 2001 presidential election, the public association was devoid of state registration, according to the Spring website.
