Tkachev threatened Turkey with the search for new agricultural supplies

Russian Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev said that he considers the duties introduced by Turkey to import Russian agricultural products, and allowed the complete cessation of the import of Russian wheat, corn, legumes, rice and other agricultural products to Turkey, TASS reports.

Recall that from March 15, Türkiye excluded Russia from the list of countries importing agricultural products without duties. According to the head of the Turkish exporters Assembly, Mehmet Boyukeksha, Ankara introduced restrictions at the request of local exporters of agricultural products.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich noted: “The actions of the Turkish side regarding Russian suppliers of wheat, corn, sunflower oil and sunflower schrot contradict the spirit and results of the Council of Higher level cooperation under the leadership of the Presidents of Russia and Turkey, as well as the steps to cancel a number of restrictions on the abstract of the presidents of Russia and Turkey. The attitude of Turkey, and impedes the restoration of full -format relationships. ”

Tkachev also considers the introduction of duties by pressure on Russia: “Such actions of Turkey question the sincerity of intentions to build strong relationships. We are not acceptable and reject attempts to put pressure on Russia in order to open access to Turkish agricultural products to the Russian market in those sensitive areas where Russian production has been actively developing in recent years. ”

At the same time, Russia will be able to quickly find the replacement of the Turkish market, the minister believes: “Given the leading position of Russia in the world grain market and the quality of the Russian agricultural production, I am sure that in a short time we will be able to quickly reorient the supply of Russian agricultural products to other regions of the world. For our part, we will take all the necessary measures to diversify the sales markets. ”
