The Kremlin has nothing to do with the strategy of the former head of the campaign headquarters Donald Trump Paul Manafort to promote the interests of Russia in the former USSR. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov. His words are given by Interfax .
“No, the Kremlin is not known about this. I know that there were appropriate statements by Manafort, relevant statements by Oleg Deripaska, but this has nothing to do with the Kremlin, ”Peskov said.
On March 22, the Associated Press reported that Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska paid Manafort at least $ 40 million in 2006-2009 for “work in the interests” of Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the publication, he developed a plan for the "undermining" of the anti -Russian opposition in the territory of the former USSR.
Manafort himself confirmed that he worked for Deripaska, but, according to him, this work was legal. He stated that he represented the interests of the businessman in those countries where he had investments, and the promotion of Russia's political interests was not included in his duties.
The official representative of Deripaska, in turn, said that the billionaire is suing Manafort due to contracts "which concerned exclusively business interests."
