Ex-mayor Barnaul was sentenced to a conditional time

The Central District Court of Barnaul found the former mayor of the city of Igor Savintsev guilty of official crimes and sentenced him to four years in prison. According to Interfax, Savintsev was found guilty of abuse of authority, attempted assignment and embezzlement of entrusted property on an especially large scale (part 286 of the Criminal Code, part 3 of Article 30, part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code).

In addition, the ex-mayor is obliged to reimburse more than 300 thousand rubles of legal costs.

The court found that from 2009 to 2015, Savintsev illegally allocated five land plots to himself and his sons with a total value of more than 60 million rubles. The criminal investigation, begun in June 2015, was completed on April 19, 2016. All this time, Savintsev was under house arrest. He did not admit his guilt.

Savintsev led Barnaul since August 2010. After the criminal case was initiated on August 11, 2015, he filed a resignation of "health reasons".

In November 2016, the October Court of Barnaul sentenced the son of an official Maxim Savintsev and his accomplice Denis Suchkov to 6 years in prison, as well as fines in the amount of 500 thousand rubles to each.
