LG was going to put 700 thousand Samsung displays

LG plans to install 700 thousand liquid crystal panels to its competitor Samsung in 2017. It is reported by Yonhap with reference to the data of IHS Markit.

As the agency notes, this can be the first such transaction between competing South Korean companies.

Previously, Samsung was counting on the purchase of LCD panels of Sharp production. However, the Japanese company refused supplies after being included in the Taiwan Hon Hai Precision. According to Yonhap, in 2016, Samsung bought 5 million displays from Sharp, which is about 10% of the demand of the South Korean manufacturer.

The negotiations between Samsung and LG became known in February. It was reported that deliveries can begin in the second half of 2017. However, as the representative of Samsung notes, the official agreement has not yet been signed.
