But then a tragedy happens - in Kiev, in broad daylight, they kill a man of a controversial fate, a former deputy of the State Duma Denis Voronenkov, who emigrated to Ukraine last year, and social networks - yes, social networks - the world media have almost no doubt: the customers who ordered the murder of the fugitive must be sought in higher echelons of power in Russia. And few people, with the exception, of course, Russian officials, are ready to argue with this. Killed? A native of Russia? Enemy of power? Of course Putin...

And then a photo sequence is lined up: Yandarbiev - Litvinenko - Politkovskaya - Nemtsov. And - Voronenkov?

Officials of Ukraine, a country where, by the way, the murder of our colleague Pavel Sheremet has not yet been solved, declare: “This is state terrorism” (President Petro Poroshenko), this is “the execution of a witness in the Yanukovych case” (Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko). Political scientists and journalists add: Voronenkov was going to The Hague - to be a witness on the facts of the participation of Russian structures in the war in Donbass, and also created his own investigative office, which intended to look for channels for laundering Kremlin money in Europe. It seems that a little more, and we learn that Voronenkov and in the Federal Drug Control Service (now a liquidated office that fought against drug trafficking) was not at all a full-time unspoken employee with the rank of major, but an opposition scout, and in the State Duma he was not a member of the Communist Party faction who voted for the annexation of Crimea and who called for a ban on Pokémon as an element of the psychological war of the West against Russia, but as an agent of this very West and its special services.

In fact, Voronenkov had a rich biography, in which there was a lot - from a bribe of $ 10 thousand when he was an assistant in the State Duma apparatus in 2000, to participation in a raider seizure of real estate with a probable gesheft of more than $ 1 million. It is clear that on this path, he made many enemies: in the FSB - of course, because he served in the FSKN, but, as they say, he had many problems and many debts in business, and he took his wife, beauty and opera singer Maria Maksakova, not from anyone - from an authoritative person Vladimir Tyurin. In other words, he had nothing to do with bloodlines.

But the reputation of the Russian government and its top officials is such (remember, for example, the statement of the English judge who pointed to President Putin and the head of the Security Council Patrushev as those who “with a high probability” gave the order to drink Alexander Litvinenko tea with polonium in London) that few people doubts: if it is necessary to order - they will order it, it is necessary to arrange a demonstrative execution in the center of a European city - they will arrange it, it is necessary to demonstrate to their own fellow citizens that no one can escape retribution (and the performers will lay out a red carpet, as was the case with the murderers of the president of the unrecognized Ichkeria Yandarbiyev), - they will demonstrate . The Ugandan dictator Idi Amin had a similar reputation, North Korean Kim Jong-un has a similar reputation, and the new hero of Russian TV propaganda, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, is creating it for himself.
