The leader of protesting truckers was detained in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, the chairman of the association of Russian carriers Andrei Bazhutin, who organized a strike of truckers against the Plato system, was detained. This was announced by the correspondent of "Echo of Moscow" in St. Petersburg Arseny Vesenin on his Twitter.

Bazhutin is accused of driving without rights. At the same time, he previously told Fontanka that he found out that he was deprived of his rights for a year and a half, this morning. Bazhutin clarified that he did not receive any receipts about violation of the rules of the road and summons to the court.

On March 27, in different cities of Russia, truckers began protests against the abolition of tariffs of the Plato payment system. Most heavy truck drivers have chosen the shape of a "passive strike - they just put cars along the roads, that is, stop transportation." The action will take part from 10 to 20 thousand drivers.

On March 24, part of the carriers' trade unions abandoned the shares after meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who announced that from April 15 the Plato tariff for the use of roads would not be doubled, but only 25 percent, amounting to 1 ruble 91 kopecks per kilometer.
