A teacher who gave lectures about the “fifth column” and “traitors” resigned from the Moscow Conservatory

Farida Kulmukhametova, a teacher at the Moscow Conservatory, who asked students to read a text about the “fifth column” and “list of traitors” at lectures on Russian cultural policy, has resigned. Novye Izvestiya reports this with reference to Vice-Rector Larisa Slutskaya.

Kulmukhametova wrote a letter of resignation after a conversation with Slutskaya and the head of the Department of Humanities Oleg Marchenko, the publication reports. Rector Alexander Sokolov signed the paper.

• In March, students at the Moscow Conservatory published a video of a lecture by Farida Kulmukhametova on Russia's cultural policy, in which she asks fourth-year student Daniil Pilchen to read a text about the "fifth column" and the "list of traitors." In response to his sarcasm, the teacher threatened the student with expulsion from the university.
• On March 28, the vice-rector of the university for academic affairs, Larisa Slutskaya, stated that Kulmukhametova compiled the “list of traitors” on her own initiative. She expressed regret that the students had not previously reported what was happening at Kulmukhametova's lectures.
