"I am present here and thereby say." 10 questions about teenage protest

Teenagers went outside for a long time, but noticed them only now. Sociologists and anthropologists explain why

After the procession on Tverskaya with anti -corruption slogans on March 26, only in Moscow more than a thousand protesters were detained. The next day, almost the same number of texts appeared about the participation of adolescents in political public actions in Moscow and other cities. This is a discussion, in which there were many arguments for and against, and against it turned out so violent that it seems as if even the detention of Navalny and searches in the FBC are less talks.

Anthropologists from the Research Group “Monitoring of Actual Folklore” of the RANEPS conducted surveillance and interviewed from shares in four cities, among which, in addition to the capitals, were Novosibirsk and Vologda. We asked researchers to tell about its results.

The subject of the study of our group was precisely the vernacular reaction of youth to protests - that is, the reaction is spontaneous, “amateur”, not organized institutionally. For example, if Petya Ivanov spreads a certain text, because he is an activist of the Communist Party of the Communist Party, this is an institutional reaction. But if Petya does not like how the streets were superimposed in his city, and he composes about this poems or jokes, this is a vernacular reaction. The range of such a reaction is very wide - from the repost of the joke on the network to reaching the rally.

We specially took a pause for a day - not only to process the data, but also to observe the reaction to the youth riot in social networks, which in itself is an equally important object of study than the presence of adolescents in “big politics”.

As a result, we identified and tried to answer ten questions that the entire Internet discusses from researchers and journalists to direct participants in the events.
