The head of the traffic police, Nilov, was fired

President Vladimir Putin fired the head of the traffic police, Viktor Nilov, and the corresponding decree was posted on the portal for publishing legal information.

The new head of the Road Safety Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is not mentioned in the decree.

A total of seven people were dismissed, including the prosecutor of the Novgorod region Andrei Kikot, the head of the Investigative Committee for Chukotka Sergei Davydov and the representative of Russia to the ECHR Georgy Matyushkin.

Viktor Nilov was born in 1955 in Leningrad, after studying at the university he went to work in the traffic police. By 2000, he had risen to the rank of deputy head of the department's department for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, and in 2007 he became assistant head of the Road Safety Department (ROSA) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for personnel.

Afterwards he served as assistant to the Minister of Internal Affairs for road safety, deputy head of the traffic police, and in 2011 he was appointed head of the traffic police by President Dmitry Medvedev.
