
The Federal Service for the Troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation (Rosguard) called the "unverified information" media reports about the alleged unpreparedness of military personnel of the military unit of the National Guard in Chechnya to repel militants' attacks.
“This information is not true,” it was said in a message published on the website of the department.
According to him, on the fact of the incident, an official check was carried out. She showed that "military personnel acted in this situation courageously and selflessly, in accordance with official duties and military charters."
“This made it possible to prevent numerous victims among military personnel and members of their families living in the territory of a military town. At present, the investigating authorities work that establish all the circumstances of the incident. Therefore, the links of some media to some informed persons in the power structures of the Chechen Republic and supposedly the Russian Guard cannot be perceived as reliable information,” the report said.
The incident in Chechnya occurred on the night of March 23 to 24. According to official figures, six residents of the village of Naurskaya attacked military 3761. During the shootout, the attackers were liquidated, six military personnel of the National Guard were killed, three were injured. The responsibility for the attack on the military town of the National Guard was assumed by the Islamic State terrorist organization*.
Later, the New Gazeta, citing the photo of those killed during the attack on the military unit, reported that they were shot with shots in the head at close range. In this regard, the publication expressed doubts about the official version of what happened, set forth by the Russian Guard, according to which the Chechens died during a clash.
On Wednesday, RBC reported that the militants who attacked the Russian Guard took advantage of violations of the military discipline. In particular, according to the agency, the duty officers at the checkpoint were sleeping during the attack, and the patrolmen did not immediately take the necessary measures against strangers, taking them for their own due to obscene jargon.
