“Last year, emergency work on the Shukhov tower was completed and, today, nothing threatens her condition. Now, taking into account the work, the restoration project is being adjusted. After that, next year, we plan to start restoration itself, ”Emelyanov quotes Interfax .
He also spoke about the options for further use of the tower, one of them is “to transfer the tower of the Polytechnic Museum to open an additional branch.”
The radio tower on Shabolovka was built in 1922 by architect Vladimir Shukhov. Since then, it has never been comprehensively restored, due to wear of steel structures there was a threat of its destruction.
The user of the tower is the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Russian Television Radio Broadcasting Network". In February 2014, the Ministry of Communications proposed to disassemble the tower, restore and install in another place. The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, as well as architects, experts and public figures, opposed the transfer of the tower.
Since 1987, the Shukhov tower has been an object of cultural heritage of regional significance, its restoration has been overseeated by the Moscow Cultural Heritage Department. In the summer of 2014, documents were transmitted to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation to change the status of the tower, the ministry confirmed that they agreed to make it a culture of federal significance, and in the Moscow Department of Culturesupported the idea of creating a cultural cluster around it.
In the fall of 2015, the Shukhov tower was included in the 2016 World Monunciation Watch List, which is threatened by destruction from the influence of natural, social, political or economic factors.
In March 2016, work was completed to strengthen the Shukhov tower, and a supporting structure, the so -called “power frame”, was installed inside it.
