
The Russian direct investment Fund (RDIP) became the investor of the Infowatch holding Natalia Kasperskaya, Vedomosti write with reference to sources and representatives of the company close to the transaction.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, the RDIP acquired 3.75% of Infowatch shares for about 187.5 million rubles, but the official amount is not disclosed. The newspaper estimated 100% of the holding at about 5 billion rubles.
According to Vedomosti, Kaspersky holding needs funds for development abroad - localizing security funds in foreign markets and opening new offices.
The publication also writes that usually the fund has been involved in transactions together with large international investors, but Infowatch has been invested independently, since since April 2016 he has been participating in the state mechanism of the “investment elevator” to support small and medium Russian companies.
Infowatch appeared in 2003 as the “daughter” of the “Kaspersky Laboratory” and became independent in 2007. The holding specializes in information security and controls 50% of the Russian market for confidential data protection systems.
