Putin reduced the number of conscripts

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the draft of citizens for military service in April-July 2017. The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on March 30.

According to the decree, from April 1 to July 15, 142 thousand people aged 18 to 27 years, who are not in reserve, are planned to be called for military service. Also, the decree provides for the dismissal of soldiers, sailors, sergeants and foremen who have expired the military service for a call.

Last year, 155 thousand Russians were subject to the spring recruitment in the army. In October-December 2016, 152 thousand citizens were called up for the service.
