In Makhachkala, workers of a burnt market blocked the avenue

In Makhachkala, on April 1, workers at the Dagelektromash market (also known as the Irchi Kazak market), which burned down the day before, blocked the roadway on Hamidov Avenue. Judging by the pictures published on the Internet, OMON forces were pulled into place.

The participants came to the action after meetings with representatives of the mayor's office and the leadership of the market, which took place on the morning of April 1 and March 31. The authorities promised that the market would be restored, and the owners of the burned-out outlets would be compensated, provided with jobs in another market, and also exempted from paying rent. The "Caucasian Knot" writes that market workers demand documented guarantees.

Deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Dagestan Sergei Karpov and representatives of the mayor's office met with the protesters. The "Caucasian Knot" writes that the protesters refused to disperse at the request of the authorities; "Chernovik" reports that at least some of them left the roadway after meeting with the leadership of the market.

The Dagelektromash market burned down on March 31. After the fire, three people were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning, and another 30 people were treated on the spot. Market workers claimed that it could be "deliberate arson, and the third one this month."
