40 people were detained in the center of Moscow

More than 40 people were detained in the center of Moscow, suspected of attempting to carry out an uncoordinated action. This was reported by the Interfax agency, citing a source in law enforcement agencies. According to the source, most of the detainees are supporters of nationalist movements.

An official statement from the Moscow police states that 29 people were detained “for violating public order.” Administrative protocols will be drawn up on them.

Photographer Evgeny Feldman previously reported the detention of at least 20 people in the Triumfalnaya Square area. At least five people were detained on Manezhnaya Square.

OVD-Info reports 44 detainees andnames some of them. One man was beaten as he was being led into a paddy wagon.

The organizer of the “opposition walk” was detained in St. Petersburg, reports Ekho Moskvy correspondent Arseny Vesnin. About 50 people gathered at the police department where the detainee was taken.

In Chelyabinsk, according to OVD-Info, 10 people were detained.

• Moscow police on the morning of April 2 installed fences in the city center in connection with messages on social networks about the preparation of an uncoordinated action. Riot police and the National Guard were deployed to Manezhnaya and Red Squares.
• On April 1, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under the article on calls for mass riots. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor's office warned about the illegality of the action on April 2.
